I am a researcher trying to place a
location of an anonymous home movie from the late 1930s. I believe the
location is Switzerland and have a shot of a woman and her dog posing by a
statue of the Three Wise Monkeys (and other monkeys on either side). I could
send a still if it would be helpful, but are there public Wise Monkeys

Thanks to
the 3 organizers of the Borgloon 2013 meeting! The sunshine was there, but
not the flowers on the trees. But we could easily imagine how beautiful this area
would be when the Spring comes on time. What a good idea these 4 girls
welcoming the participants in a monkey disguise. |

Is there a collective name or title
for the three wise monkeys? Comments from Webmaster: there is not just one single English word
or title that describes the three monkeys. Some common expressions are: 3
monkeys, wise monkeys, no evil monkeys etc. The three monkeys originate from
Japan and in Japanese they are called "sanzaru"
or "san'en". Hope this answers your

Helaas moet ik
afzeggen voor de HZZ dag in België. Ik heb het de “mannen” ook al geschreven.
In die week is ook de contactdag van de Knippers-vereniging en die bestaat 30
jaar. Het wordt gehouden in het Knippers-museum in Westerbork. Iedereen moest
iets knippen, maar wel in deze tulp. Ik heb gekozen voor bestaande HZZ
figuurtjes, die goed te knippen waren en zie hier het resultaat. Ik dacht dat
het misschien wel leuk was voor de HZZ club en je mag het ook gebruiken voor
het internet. Ik kies dus
deze keer voor de Knippers-contactdag i.p.v. de HZZ contactdag! Nog niet vaak
gebeurd, dat ik niet kwam en ik vind het ook wel jammer! Volgende keer ben ik
weer van de partij. Waar zou het dan zijn? Een goede en

Bonjour, Je voudrais approfondir ma connaissance, ou plutot ma compréhension au
sujet des singes qui m'ont toujours beaucoup intriguée. J'ai du mal à
comprendre celui qui se bouche les oreilles et celui qui se cache les yeux.
Dans mon esprit, j'ai l'impression qu'en quelque sorte la signification
bascule dans le refus de voir et d'écouter la réalité du monde, aussi cruelle
soit elle (parfois). Je vois ça comme un déni volontaire de la réalité qui
nous entoure. Peut-on réellement fermer les yeux et se ignorer tout ce qui
nous entoure? Au final le seul qui me parait avoir une logique de bienveillance serait
celui qui se cache la bouche et donc ne "dis" pas de mal. Comment
interpreter le symbole des oreilles et des yeux? Et même celui de la bouche?!
Je n'ai visiblement pas compris le message de ces singes et je ne vois pas
nécessairement de la sagesse mais presque une forme de lacheté... Apres je me dis que le message pourrait être: ne pas dire de mal, de pas
écouter les "vipères" et ne pas les regarder: donc s'en détourner,
se détourner du mal. Mais je retombe dans l'idée que non, on ne peux pas
fermer les yeux sur ce qui nous entoure. Sur le net je ne trouve pas de réelle
explication sur ces singes, en tout cas je n'ai pas trouvé d'analyse précise
