& Anneke. My daughter carved these pumpkins last year. Margot
was born on Halloween and really enjoys the holiday. She works for a
grocery store which had a pumpkin carving contest; however her entry did not
win first prize. She did get an award for most creative. We
collectors think she should have gotten first prize! Enjoy.

for the latest edition of the Newsletter. The Guest
Book is getting richer. Great. What
interested me most is the item in "Unique No Evils" corner -- UN62:
coin-like medal with the Hindu inscription, coined in 1839, by the East India
Company. That is
noteworthy evidence that the three monkeys already existed outside Japan, and
they were known to the Dutchmen in India in the given year. If you know,
1639-1853 Japan closed its door to foreign countries, except to Holland. The East
India Company, established in the concession called Dejima
in Nagasaki, enjoyed its commercial monopoly. The company
bosses habitually made a courtesy call to the Sogun
in Edo(Tokyo). But none of
them visited Toshogu shrine in Nikko, so far widely
regarded as the birthplace of the three monkeys. I do not
think the Dutch knew of the Japanese three monkeys before 1853. The Dutch
three monkeys teach "see, hear, shut mouth"---proverb different
from ours. What is
more, there is a picture of a balance. That is the scale used by the Egyptian
deity Thoth, divine scribe to scale the weight of the dead pharaoh's soul at
the divine tribunal. Well-balanced scale confirms that the pharaoh was the
king of justice, and entitled to revival ---in form of mummy, and lives in a
pyramid. The tribunal is called "Final Judgment", and the scene is
depicted in the ancient Egyptian "Book of the Dead". Thoth can be a
baboon, or an ibis. It is my hypothesis
that the three monkeys were born in Ancient Egypt. I need a definite proof. I
am glad to have come across the UN62. If you know more about it--in what
situation it was made and where it is now etc,
please let me know. I appreciate. |

Hi- I was robbed and my favorite ring
was from home shopping network the amedeo three
monkey blue agate in silver cameo. I have been able to
replace the pendant but unable to find the ring. I have called amedeo himself, home shopping network, eBay. And dealers.
Do u have any other ideas? I am heart broken. I wore

iedereen informeren, dat Henny van ’t Hul
heel ongelukkig is gevallen en dat ze nu met een gebroken heup in het
ziekenhuis ligt. Ze is gisteren geopereerd en alles gaat zover goed. Maar het
zal wel een paar maanden duren voordat ze weer helemaal mobiel is. Helaas
gaat dus nu de tentoonstelling van een deel van haar HZZ verzameling in het
Verpleeghuis “Regina Paces” niet door. (zie mededeling # 590 hier onder) Hartelijke
