I'm trying to find out where the photos of the Gorillas were taken.  They're shown in the STATUES section and state TEXAS USA.  TEXAS is a big state, so I wanted to ask where in Texas.  It looks like a zoo or botanical park.

Dag, u heeft een prachtige website met heel veel leerzame informatie. We hebben zelf een HZZ beeldje van bone waar de middelste aap zijn handen bij zijn buren heeft, en de buren elk 1 hand bij de middelste aap. Het viel ons op dat het inderdaad niet-horen, niet-zien en niet-spreken is en we zochten op internet de betekenis, vandaar dat we bij u zijn gekomen. We zouden het leuk vinden om een nieuwsbrief te ontvangen.

I have been collecting for many years and had no idea there were other collectors! I have no idea how many I have - in all different materials and sizes, and on card, paper, china, wax etc. I came across this site by chance. I look forward to hearing from other collectors in the UK and who knows, but we may start our own UK group.

wat heb je mijn verzamelaarsportret snel en fantastisch gedaan; ik vind het prima zo. Heel leuk dat je de kaarsjes foto erbij hebt gezet.

 

Tevens wil ik je nogmaals complimenteren met je site en alle info hierop. Wat een werk maar wat een resultaat...fantastisch;

echt iets om trots op te zijn.

I really enjoy browsing the site. Have you ever come across Swarovski glass monkeys? I always look in the shops which are ubiquitous but never see them.

Hello Peter, thank you very much for your message. I am glad that you like the site. As far as I know, Swarovski have never produced the 3 no evil monkeys. About 10 – 15 years ago, other glass manufacturers have been aware of that and have produced a variety of glass monkeys with the same look. These were nameless companies, mainly in Eastern Europe and the Far East. As sudden as these items came up, they also disappeared and nowadays it is quite difficult to find a no evil monkeys trio in the “Swarovski style”. Hope this answers your question. The Good Thief`s Guide to Amsterdam

Dear Emil
I have just read a novel (in English) with the above title which was published in 1997. It is a crime novel of 238 pages in hardback and it has a plaster set of the three wise monkeys as part of the plot. On page 90 there is a discussion of their possible value. Reference is made to a collector in Switzerland. Do you know anything about this?

First of all, very nice to hear from you. Secondly, very thoughtful of you to ask me. I know of the book, but have not read it. The collector in Switzerland makes me very curious. In the past I have had several emails from book authors asking questions about the 3 monkeys. I cannot remember Chris Ewan though.

Waar komt de nederlandse naam horen zien en zwijgen vandaan? De beeldjes zeggen: Niet horen, niet zien, niet spreken oftewel: horen, zien, spreken

Er lijkt een inconsistentie in de naam zwijgen te zitten. Hoe zit dat? Zou dat geen spreken moeten zijn?

Hierbij een foto van een paraplu, die ik gekocht had op een beurs! Ze waren € 10. De verkoopster had er maar één bij zich, maar zou proberen bij de importeur er nog wat bij te krijgen!

Indien jullie er ook een willen hebben, bericht dat dan even, dan kan ik ze meebrengen naar de HZZ dag in België.
