Three Monkeys in Ebay

A set of three monkeys is presently on auction in Ebay.com for US$ 4,000.00. Not exactly cheap, but for that price shipping within the USA is free and “only” costs around US$ 600 worldwide. What a pity that such “valuable” monkeys had to pose on a rag covered kitchen table. If you want to have a look, search in Ebay for item # 110672669734. No further comments from our side.

Hotel with a three monkey room

The Arte Luise Kunsthotel in Berlin has a room that is especially dedicated to the Three Monkeys. It probably is the only three-monkey hotel room in the world. We think that any 3-monkey collector visiting Berlin should try to stay there. Click here for a photo and on the same page you can have a panorama view by clicking on the 360 degrees link at the right hand side of that page. The hotel manager has written a message in our Guestbook that any 3-monkey collector staying in that room will receive a special certificate confirming the night in the Three Monkeys room. Entry # 354. Click here.

Three Wise Monkeys in Flickr

Have a look at a funny photo-pool in www.flickr.com  titled: Three Wise Monkeys. This picture album is not about  hear-see-speak-no-evil monkeys, but about humans only. Click here for the slide show. There is another photo-pool with fewer members named No Evil Monkeys. Click here.  Be prepared that it may take quite some time to see all the slides. If you don’t know Flickr yet: it probably is world’s largest online photo sharing application.

Telephone cards (calling cards) with hear, see and speak no evil

Phonecards have been collected worldwide since the mid 1970's and peaked in the mid 1990s. At its height, over 2 million people collected phonecards. The hobby has been in decline during the past years, due to the fact that more and more telecom companies cease to supply calling cards. A number of cards have been issued with hear-see-speak-no-evil pictures. We have recently updated our webpage.

Piercings with hear-see-speak-no-evil

A Russian design studio has come up with a new idea for three-monkey piercings. One for the eyebrow (see no evil), one for the earlobe (hear no evil) and one for the under lip (speak no evil). Whether this idea ever is going to be commercialized, we don’t know. Click here.

Coloring pages with the three monkeys

An idea for those of you who have small children that need to be kept busy for some time. Here are links to free monkey coloring pages that can be printed. Click on the following links: hear no evil monkey, see no evil monkey and speak no evil monkey. The youngsters may get interested in the 3 wise monkeys, which will be good, because our group of collectors is slowly but surely aging.

Gibraltar and the three monkeys

The Gibaltar Macaques (click) are the only monkeys that live freely in Europe. They belong to the same family as the Japanese Macaques, the ones that stood model for the original three monkey symbol. The souvenir shops in Gibraltar mostly offer the same 3-monkey figurines as can be found in other countries, but with “Gibraltar” printed on them. Specific items that were only made for Gibraltar mostly are fridge magnets, key chains and cigarette lighters. Click here to have a look. A few Gibraltar items are now for sale in our online store. The quantities are very limited, so first come-first served. Click here.

A photo blog in Japan about three-monkeys.info

My friend in Tokyo introduced our website www.three-monkeys.info, as well as our group of three-monkey collectors, in her website on January 5, 2011 (the first Koshin day of 2011). Click here to read the story.

Over the past years she has been introducing many interesting details of Japanese arts and culture of her local community in her photo blog. Please have a look at http://m-ref.blogspot.com/

Another 3-monkey collector in Russia

Alexey (we wrote about him in this Newsletter on December 08, 2010) has sent us a link to an internet forum in Russia, where a three-monkey collector is asking for contact with fellow collectors. Alexey has tried to contact this person on our behalf, but the website does not seem to function anymore. So the only thing we can show you now is this photograph of a Russian 3-monkey collection by Anatoly. Click here.
