Unexpected Websites

When browsing in the internet one sometimes discovers unexpected homepages or blogs. For example this one. Nice to see that we are getting this kind of support from Japan.

Click here, click there and click everywhere!

Professional website makers advise not to use the term “click here” in a website. They say it has no information value, because everyone knows that it needs “clicks” to go to a next page. However, in the years that I am running this website I have made other experiences. Quite often I discover that a number of visitors are not at all familiar with “clicking”.

The reason maybe is that many of our fellow collectors are from a pre-computer generation. I would be pleased to do away with the “click here’s”, but I am afraid that it still is too early for that.

Would very much like to hear your opinion. (I am tempted to say “click here!”)

The three-monkey collectors day 2010 in Brielle, Netherlands

The 53 participants from five countries can now look back to a very nice and well organized day. Once more many thanks to Yvonne & Henk, Ans & John and not to forget the help team behind the bar.

Two couples from France and one couple from the Netherlands had joined us for their first time and we hope to see them again at next years’ 3-monkey day.

A website about Deities in Japanese Buddhism and Shintoism

For all who are interested in the origin and meaning of hear, see and speak no evil monkeys, the website of Mark Schumacher is a great source of information. We wrote already about this site on May 14, 2009. Mark has informed us that the page about the Koshin deity Shomen Kongo (who usually is depicted with the 3 monkeys) now contains a lot of additional information. Click here to read that section only and click here for the entire website about all deities of the Buddhism and Shintoism in Japan. This last website visit you should only do when you have a lot of time for it.
