I am unable to locate any information on the below Limoges trinket box anywhere on the internet except a picture here at your site. If you can provide any facts about it, I will be most appreciative. The one I have says Peint Main Limoges France in script on the underside but no artist initials or other markings. I don’t know what your level of information is about Limoges boxes, but here is a short explanation.

The unpainted boxes are produced in a very few places in Limoges.

The painting is done in many different small workshops. That explains why there are so many items that all look different, but with a closer look, one can see that there are not many different basic models. In the case of the three-monkey boxes, there are only three different models. Two of them are with all three monkeys on top of the cover and one set consists of three different boxes, each with one monkey.

“Peint main” means hand painted. Many of the studios add a signature or even a serial number, but, like with the box you have, some don’t.

Thank you so much for your quick reply! I have done a lot of research on the Internet and am familiar with what you have told me. I was hoping that you may have known the maker of the box I pointed out to you since you have the picture at your site. It is exactly like the one shown. Where did you obtain the pictures you used for that page? Maybe that could lead me to more information. I don't understand why I do not see that particular one offered for sale. Most of the other ones shown are available from the various distributors that have sites on the web.

In any case, it is very lovely and a wonderful addition to my growing collection. I wish I had become interested in collecting prior to the meeting in Chicago as I reside in a suburb of that city and would have loved to have attended.
