Story:

My husband and I inherited this beautiful piece from his Papa, whom we believe maybe got it Hong Kong in the 40's? He traveled the world as a pilot for WW2.
I see and learnt a lot from appraisal 98 but was curious of value AND if the eyes were added later or if they are original?

PS. After looking closer, there are small differences in the two statues... are they the same?!?

Hello Janine,

Thank you for the photos. This set of 4 monkeys was produced in the USA. We do not know what year, but definitely after WWII.

It was available as a semi-finished product and was completed by various companies.

That explains different eyes and possibly other details such as colors compared with the item on appraisal 98 . 

Over the years we have come across items that were almost black and others that were bright green or bright red.

At this moment it is difficult to state a value. There seem to be more sellers than buyers for this type of items. But to give you a price range: anything between US$ 10 and US$ 25.
