
KELLY DON CHESTNUT
Kelly Chestnut,
57, of Independence, Mo., passed away suddenly September 11, 2010, at Centerpoint Medical Center in
Independence. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at
Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, Kan., and a
graveside service will be held at Republican City Cemetery at Clay Center, Kan., at a later date to be determined. Mr.
Chestnut was born April 21, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Shawnee
Mission East High School in 1971, from the University of Kansas with a BA in
1975 and from the University of Kansas School of Law
in 1978. He had a private law practice in Independence. In his youth, he was in
Boy Scout Troop 92 where he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout and earned the
Order of the Arrow. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and study of native American cultures. Survivors include his parents,
William and Eleanor Chestnut of Mission, Kan.; brother, Gayle Chestnut and wife
Becky of Albuquerque, NM; and brother, Kevin Chestnut of St. Louis, Mo. In lieu
of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Village Presbyterian
Church or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements: Cremation Society of
