Hello, First of all I would like to thank you for your good website. These monkeys were given to my father-in-law by a friend around the 50’s or 60’s. The material most probably is ivory. Crisp details. Weight 18 oz. Dimensions: width 4.75”, depth 2”, height 3.5”. I have not yet decided to start collecting these monkeys, but I am always open for information. Beste mensen, Allereerst wil ik U bedanken voor Uw goede website. Deze aapjes heeft mijn schoonvader in de jaren 50 of zestig van een vriend gekregen. Materiaal: waarschijnlijk ivoor. Scherpe details. Gewicht: 440 gram. Afmetingen: 12 cm lang, breed 5 cm, hoogte 9 cm. Ik heb nog niet echt besloten om deze monkeys te gaan verzamelen maar sta altijd open voor informatie. Hallo, Zuerst möchte ich mich bei Ihnen für Ihre gute Webseite bedanken. Diese 3 Affen hat mein Schwiegervater in den 50. oder 60. Jahren von einem Freund geschenkt bekommen. Material: vermutlich Elfenbein. Scharfe Konturen. Gewicht: 440 Gramm, Abmessungen: 12 cm Länge, Breite 5 cm und Höhe 9 cm. Hello Mario, I hope that you won’t be too disappointed, but these monkeys are not made of ivory but of a kind of pressed stone material, that usually consists of ground marble with a cementing material pressed in a mould. The monkeys are indeed about 50 - 60 years old and have been sold in larger quantities. This statue can still be found on flea- or antique markets and usually cost around 10 US$. In spite of all this, it is a nice 3-monkey set and maybe the first item of your collection?

Hallo Mario, Ik hoop dat je niet teleurgesteld gaat zijn, maar deze apen zijn niet uit ivoor maar uit een soort geperst steen. Dat bestaat meestal uit gemalen marmer dat met een bindmiddel in een vorm wordt gedrukt. Deze apen zijn inderdaad 50 tot 60 jaar oud en zijn toen in grotere aantallen verkocht. Ze kunnen nog vaker op vlooi- en rommelmarkten gevonden worden en kosten dan meestal tussen 5 en 10 Euro. Dat alles neemt niet weg dat het een leuk setje is en misschien dus het begin van je verzameling?

Hallo Mario, Ich hoffe, dass Sie nicht zu sehr enttäuscht sein werden, aber diese Affen sind nicht aus Elfenbein, sondern aus gepresstem Steinmehl, meistens aus gemahlenem Marmor, dass mit einem Bindemittel in einen Form gepresst wird. Die Figur ist tatsächlich ca. 50-60 Jahr alt und wurde damals in grösseren Stückzahlen verkauft. Sie sind immer noch auf Flohmärkten zu finden und kosten in der Regel zwischen 5 und 10 Euro. Trotzdem sind es lustige Affen und vielleicht der Anfang einer Sammlung?
